American Roulette
Roulette became socially acceptable through the French bourgeois and intellectual movement in the 17th/18th century. The name “roulette” comes from the French word “roue” (wheel), an allusion to the centrepiece of the game: the turntable in the roulette wheel, an ingenious precision machine with 37 numbered pockets (zero and the numbers 1 to 36), coloured alternately red and black, with one green pocket (zero).

Place your bet please
Bets are placed on equivalent number fields on a felt-covered table, the “tableau”. Here you place your chips on numbers or on combinations of numbers, on red or black or on even or odd numbers. While you’re still placing your last bets, the croupier throws the ball into the bowl against the direction of rotation of the disc and stops the betting by saying “No more bets!” The ball circles quickly at first, then gets slower and slower – until, at the decisive moment, it falls into the one of the numbered pockets. Pure fascination!
The American Roulette is a fast game. The number of players is smaller and you largely bet your chips yourself. It’s mainly played with American chips. Simply ask the croupier for a free colour. You determine the value of your colour yourself and the croupier marks it with an appropriate value chip in the marking rack.
If you want to end your game and leave the table, you must first get the croupier to exchange your American chips for value chips, as your American chips are only valid at the table where the value of your colour is marked.
